Studiomare is a design practice focused on the creation of Meaningful And Relevant Envisioning.
The main goal of each project created by studiomare is to imagine new scenarios for creating a better future.
Studio mare was founded in 2017 by Federico Castelli and Sara Ferrari, who share the same vision of using design as a tool for imagining new possibilities. Their experience include product design but also graphic, interiors and exhibitions spaces, communication, curatorial projects. All focused on creating meaningful ideas and experiences.
MareLab is a space dedicated to workshops and events aiming to connect people from the design field. This includes young professionals, experienced designers, academic researchers, university professors and companies’ representatives.
Federico Castelli, after his studies in Industrial Design at MACHINA Institute, started working as a designer in both graphic design and interiors, collaborating with clients such as Officina Rivadossi, DxG – Giustacchini Packaging, Paghera and Gianfranco Bortolotti. In 2006 he started his collaboration with Studio AG where he became a key figure in developing projects in Italy, China and England with clients like Giuso s.p.a, Gruppo Penelope, Hong Ying, Li Ning, Sutherland Global and Langland. From 2013 he became a partner in Studio AG running not only projects for commercial and residential spaces but also getting involved in the production of communication tools for renowned Italian companies. He’s has been teaching interior design at Accademia Santa Giulia in Brescia.
In 2016 he founded Federico Castelli Design, a design practice specialized in product, graphic design and interiors. He is also the art director of IB RUBINETTI, a leader company in faucet production.
Sara Ferrari likes traveling and cross-cultural investigation and she cares about what objects mean. In 2009 she founded Sara Ferrari Design in London, where she spent the first four years of her career getting her work recognised worldwide, winning design competitions, and designing successful products.
Sara gained experience in teaching and giving workshops starting in 2013 in the Netherlands, heading a workshop in collaboration between Alessi and TU Delft (Technical University of Delft, Industrial Design and Engineering Faculty).
Since then, she’s been teaching and lecturing in several Universities and Design Schools, such as TU Delft , HKU in Utrecht, University of Bologna, MACHINA INSTITUTE in Brescia, NABA (New Academy of fine Art) in Milan, SID (Scuola Italiana Design) in Padova, Politecnico di Milano, DOMUS Academy in Milan.
She’s also been giving workshops in collaboration with companies such as Alessi, Chicco (Artsana Group), Mutti (in collaboration with Project Science) and Archistarter in Poland and most of the universities above.
Since 2015 she is collaborating as “designer of meaning” with the team of Project Science, practice headed by Professor of leadership and innovation Roberto Verganti.
She won several design prizes including the RED DOT Design award, GOOD Design Award, and several mentions from YOUNG&Design Award. To see her full profile click here
